Technology Use Hierarchy

All technology uses are not alike. Use this tool as a guide to strike a balance in your classroom between automational and transformational uses of technology. Empowering uses of technology allow us to do what we could not do without the aid of technology. Some uses make our work easier, faster, and more professional looking. We call this level of technology use "automation." Other uses allow us to explore, design, and communicate in ways that would be impossible without computer technology. We call this level of technology use "transformation." Your goal is to strike a balance. Use this tool as a guide. The Technology Use Hierarchy looks at those uses through the lens of empowerment: To what extent does the technology used empower you to do what would be otherwise impossible?
